- Webbing: Matters as much as the buckle. Look for nylon webbing with a tight weave and a slight stiffness. Polypropylene is common in lower-cost bags, but it degrades in UV light and gets brittle after a single summer of sun. I’ve watched a poly strap snap while just cinching it tight indoors.
