Cut the Bass, Hear the Trail: EQ Settings for Riders, Runners, and Skiers

Pick one activity and one three-minute stretch. Set a flat EQ, then work through a simple process.
- Ride, ski, or run that stretch with flat EQ.
- Ask yourself one question: what did I fail to hear?
- If the answer is wind rumble, cut low end. If it is voice clarity, add a little presence.
- Change one band at a time, by 2 dB.
Do not copy a preset from the internet and call it done. Your ears, your speed, and your local trails all change the answer. Save your settings for each sport if your phone lets you.
