Put on a pair of thin liner gloves. Wet them slightly. Then put your headphones on and press the gloves against the earpieces like you’re wiping sweat off your face. Do this for thirty seconds straight. Then listen. If the sound gets muffled or cuts out, that headphone will fail during a humid climb.
The Freezer Surprise

One thing I’d love to see: headphones that adapt to moisture. Imagine a tiny sensor inside that detects when you’re sweating and automatically seals the ports. Or modular covers you can swap depending on the activity. For now, those are just ideas. But the trail is already telling us what we need. We just have to listen.

At the end of the day, no rating replaces experience. The best way to know if your headphones are truly waterproof is to use them hard in real conditions and see what happens. That’s how we learn.
